HIV Arkansas will be working with Spirit of Peace to provide food baskets for clients of the NWA Regional HIV Clinic.
One of the aspects of our mission is to provide support for those in the HIV community and what better way than through a holiday food drive. Our first food drive was in 2010 providing 20 Thanksgiving and 20 Christmas food baskets. Over the next two years we were able to provide food for 100 families. In 2013 Spirit of Peace Church assumed the lead for providing food baskets and the program has continued to grow. Below is a letter for Rev. Mark Williams about this year’s food drive:
Rev. Mark Williams, Senior Pastor of Spirit of Peace Church.
“Spirit of Peace will once again be providing food baskets for clients of the NWA Regional HIV Clinic, who are in need of assistance during the Thanksgiving holiday. This program has been very rewarding for our church and a help for those facing difficult times during the holiday. It is with great excitement that HIV Arkansas, the original founders of this program will be working with us to accomplish this task. HIV Arkansas celebrates 10 years of active community service and education this year. This organization has been an inspiration for all of us.
In the past 5 years we have provided food baskets for families each holiday. This year our goal is 25 families. The families are selected by the Medical Director of the HIV Clinic. These clients are not known to us nor do we typically meet them; some clients have no transportation and we are requested to deliver the items.
We as a faith community wish to request your support. We are seeking contributions to meet the goals for this year. It is our goal to raise $2500.00 in funds and non-perishable foods.
If you wish to participate in the program please visit our Facebook page for a link to PayPal (please note that the donation is for the food basket program). If you have questions or need ideas on what to donate, please do not hesitate to call Rev. Mark Williams at 479-595-6161.”
